Neighborhood Children’s Vote Parades

WWFOR inspired groups in West Seattle and Green Lake to encourage last-minute voting by having fun and showing the world that we care about the future our children will inherit.

In West Seattle neighbors gathered with their kids at a community garden for a “Harvest Festival” and to give the kids a chance to participate in the most sacred ritual of true democracy…casting your vote.

In North Seattle, a “Children’s Neighborhood Vote Parade” was organized by Robyn Hodges, mother of a 5 and 8-year-old, who organized young families in her Seattle neighborhood to dress their children in costumes, parade (socially distanced) to a voting dropbox at Green Lake Park, where the children cast pretend ballots in a “children’s dropbox”. Under a banner reading “Please Vote for Our Future. We Can’t” the children marched, with parents in tow, from the playground, past the ballfield and past the lake to arrive next to the official “adult” dropbox, where each child was given an apple and a ballot.
